Procedure:

  1. After connecting to the power supply, first of all, you need to configure the router to communicate with the computer. To do this, insert the Internet cable into the WAN slot on the device. And we find the DHCP Server item in the menu (in Trendnet it is combined with WAN) and set the range of values ​​​​for possible IP addresses of devices within your local network. For me it was like this: Start IP - 192.168.10.101, End IP 192.168.10.200. And of course, opposite the DHCP Server item should be the Enabled parameter. Domain Name or Host Name is the name of the future home wifi network. With it, you can connect a number of additional devices to the device: 3G / 4G modems, printers and scanners, flash drives and external hard drives. When you connect a wireless modem, you can use 3G or 4G Internet on all devices in your home network.

If you connect a printer to the USB input, it will be detected as a network printer. It will be possible to print files not only from one computer, but also from any device that is connected to the home network. Some firmware also allows you to access the printer over the Internet. This means that you can use it even if you are far from your apartment. In this case, you do not even need to turn on your home computer. It is enough that the printer is turned on and connected to the router via USB.

Most useful application USB ports on the router - connecting external storage devices. Most routers recognize both flash drives and external hard drives. After connecting one of these devices, it will be shared with all devices in the apartment that use home Wi-Fi. For example, you can burn a movie to a flash drive and watch it on Smart TV. This eliminates the need to leave the computer on for data transfer or connect the drive to the TV. You can also share files on a flash drive over the Internet.

I decided to raise a very interesting question and deal with Internet access in the villages. Not just with Internet access, but with access via Wi-Fi wireless technology. Simply put, we will consider different options with which you can organize the distribution of the Internet via Wi-Fi in your private house, in the village.

It seems to me that this is very actual question, and since I myself am from the village (although now I spend more time in the city), but, with my parents, I, of course, organized the Internet and distribution via Wi-Fi. Yes, and the younger brother connects his tablet, smartphone and computer. Plus, more.

I think that this article will be very interesting for everyone who lives in villages and at the same time wants to have access to the Internet, and not from one device, as is usually the case when using a GPRS, 3G, or 4G modem. Now, people are actively buying modern smartphones, tablets, TVs, laptops, which, of course, have the ability to connect to Wi-Fi. Yes, yes, not only in cities, each apartment has several devices that can be connected to the Internet.

The situation with Internet access, both in Ukrainian and Russian villages, is not very cheerful. Of course, I did not conduct any research, therefore, I will draw a conclusion from what kind of Internet they use with us.

ADSL. Through a regular landline phone

In Ukraine, this is usually the provider Ukrtelecom. It provides Internet using ADSL technology. If you have a phone, and the provider provides access to the Internet, then this is probably the best option in terms of price / speed / quality. My friend has the internet.

But, not everything is so good and simple. For example, in my village, there is no way to connect ADSL. Even if there is a landline phone. The provider talks about the poor quality of the lines. There are many such cases. Therefore, residents of such villages use a different Internet connection, which I will discuss below.

If you have internet through regular phone, and you want to distribute it over Wi-Fi, then there is nothing difficult in this. Usually (probably at the request of the client), ADSL providers are now installing modems that can distribute Wi-Fi.

If, however, you have an ADSL modem without Wi-Fi, then you can simply buy a Wi-Fi router, connect it with a cable to the modem (the connection diagram will be approximately as in instructions), and connect your devices via Wi-Fi within a radius of the house, or even not far outside the house (in the yard).

Internet via USB modem (3G, 4G) and distribution via Wi-Fi

If there is usually no cable Internet, and there is no way to connect ADSL (or no desire) then use wireless GPRS, 3G, or 4G internet. In my village, almost everyone who has Internet access uses 3G (CDMA) from Intertelecom. I also have the same internet. It does not have to be Intertelecom, there are also wireless Ukrtelecom, PEOPLEnet, MTS, CDMA Ukraine other.

Russia has its own providers. We will not talk about the pros and cons of each provider. If you choose, then see which provider has the best coverage in your area (you can ask support, or look at the coverage map on the provider's website), and then already look at the prices for paying for the Internet and for equipment.

In my region, for example, the best option is Intertelecom. Plus, word of mouth 🙂 Well, you know what I mean, this is a village, everyone knows what kind of Internet you have, etc.

There are no special difficulties when connecting wireless Internet. We bought a modem, made a connection, connected the modem to the computer, set it up and use it. Here is an example instruction: ““.

But, the problem is that the USB modem can only be connected to one computer or laptop. More precisely, the Internet can only work on one device at a time. If you have a laptop, then you can try to configure the distribution of the Internet via Wi-Fi, according to this instruction. Your laptop will take the Internet from the USB modem and distribute it to smartphones, tablets and other devices. But, not the fact that it will work.

Previously, a TP-Link TL-MR3220 router worked for me according to this scheme (about the setting of which, read in article). But unfortunately it broke. And now, for almost a year, in my private house, the Internet is distributing a router. And I am very pleased with them.

True, the speed that Intertelecom gives out is not always encouraging. Judge for yourself: if you download something at 4-5 in the morning, then the speed is 250-300 Kb / s. And for example in the evening, the speed is 30 Kb / s. They have very busy base stations. Although I'm not in it strong specialist. Moreover, the price was recently raised on all tariffs 🙁 .

A few more ways

O satellite internet, I probably will not write much. Since he is not very in the subject. But, it is very expensive. There are expensive tariffs and equipment. If I'm wrong, please correct me, you can write your opinion in the comments.

As for GPRS/EDGE, these are already slightly outdated options. The speed there is very low. But, as an option, this method should also be considered. Now almost all mobile operators provide not very expensive Internet. And, you can use your phone as a modem by connecting it to your computer.

And if you have a modern smartphone, then most likely it has the ability to launch an access point. What it is? You set up the Internet on your smartphone, and launch the “Wi-Fi router” (as this function is called on HTC smartphones). Phone regular internet (from mobile operator) distributes over Wi-Fi. That is, your smartphone acts as a router. You can connect laptops, other phones, etc. to it. I will write more about this in more detail.

The best way to surf the internet private house in the village, it's ADSL (if possible), and a modem with Wi-Fi, or a simple modem + Wi-Fi router.

If not landline phone, or the provider does not allow you to connect ADSL Internet, then we are looking for a 3G / 4G Internet provider, connect, buy a Wi-Fi router with USB modem support, and configure distribution of Wi-Fi in my house. Or, buy mobile wifi router with built-in modem. But, it's not suitable for everyone. They have a smaller range of the wireless network, and a limit on the number of connected devices (not all).

1. Connecting to WI-FI on a laptop

Every modern laptop has WI-FI. It is enough to turn it on, then find our wireless network and connect to it. Let's take care of this.

We open:

Start - Control Panel - Network and Internet - Network and Sharing Center - Change adapter settings.

Here we see the icon Wireless network connection. Right click on it and select Turn on.

At the bottom of the screen (where the clock is) a window will appear with the found wireless networks. We find our WI-FI and connect to it.

Confirm by entering a password.

Now we can open any other browser and try to download sites.

2. Connect to WI-FI on the computer

So stationary computers a little more difficult. They most often do not have wireless technology. But this problem is easily solved by purchasing a special board, or a small adapter.

The price is almost the same ($10), but it has a better signal, which has a positive effect on the speed of the Internet.

After installing any of these adapters and installing drivers for it (the disk is included), exactly the same connection to WI-FI, as in the laptop example. We act by analogy with a laptop.

3. Connect to Wi-Fi on your phone and tablet

On the phone, just go to the settings, enable WI-FI and find your network. Here is an example from iPhone:

On other phones, everything is similar, including on Android smartphones. It's the same on tablets :)

4. Connection on other devices

On other devices, for example, TVs that support WI-FI or even printers, everything is done the same way: it turns on, the network is found and the connection is made.
